The St. Charles Apache Mission School in San Carlos recently celebrated the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, who played integral roles in the life of the Church.
In at Facebook post, St. Charles Apache Mission School said that Saint Peter was a common man, uneducated and aware of his own shortcomings. He was a fisherman and lived and walked alongside Christ during his ministry on earth.
Paul was a well-educated man who had a very different experience, persecuting many of the early Christians until he was encountered by the risen Christ and told to turn from his violent ways.

“Although both Saint Peter and Saint Paul were two very different individuals, what they had crucially in common was their passion for Jesus Christ,” the post read. “Through their encounter with the Lord, these men’s lives radically changed.”
Peter was no longer tasked with fishing but instead with saving the souls of men, and Paul was commanded to serve the Lord and become a leader for those who were following in the footsteps of Christ.
“In fact, Saint Peter and Saint Paul were both so deeply touched by their experiences with our Lord that they both became martyrs for the faith in Rome,” the post continued. “Peter was crucified upside down and Paul was beheaded.”
The lives of Paul and Peter and their devotion to Christ should serve as examples to all those who are part of the Church, encouraging everyone to have a more profound love of the Catholic faith.
“These men were champions of the faith,” the post concluded. “They lived and announced what our Lord had given to them. They proclaimed the truth, and they devoted their hearts completely to our Lord despite their own personal frailties. Let us follow in their footsteps with faith and zeal.”
