Danielle Coleman, principal of St. Cyril Catholic School in Alexandria, announced in a video that the school is doing its part to help workers on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic by donating the school's cleaning supplies to first responders and health care workers.
Coleman said the school is donating all of its unused supplies, such as disinfectant wipes, paper towels and hand sanitizers, according to the video.
"Crucial supplies that are needed are racking up. While most of us do our part by staying home, social distancing and washing our hands, we here at St. Cyril School are looking to do more," Coleman said in the video. "With campuses closed for the year, what better place to find these supplies than our very own classrooms? So, we've gone to every classroom and gathered what we could find."
Many members of the community showed support in the comments of the video, some of which read: "Making a difference in our community. Go Cougars," "What a great idea from a GREAT principal" and "Love this!"
Coleman challenged other schools to do the same in the video and encouraged them to help make a difference in the community.
"We'd like to challenge all the schools to do the same thing," she said in the video. "Together we can make a difference."
