The border crisis continues. and one thing is clear: no one seems to agree with lifting Title 42 except for the Biden Administration.

President Joe Biden recently announced plans to lift Title 42 on May 23, a decision that has since been reported as being under reconsideration, even though he faces pushback from within the Democratic Party. That has led to some vocal opposition from Gov. Doug Ducey (R-AZ).

Ducey recently met with officials to discuss the ongoing crisis at the southern border and its ramifications on our nation.

“What we saw today made clear: the border crisis has gotten dramatically worse with no help from the Biden administration,” Ducey posted on Facebook. “The federal government’s inaction has fueled a public safety, humanitarian, national security and opioid crisis.”

Some Democrats even question lifting Title 42.

Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH), in a Fox News report, called the removal of Title 42 "wrong and reckless," while Rep. Susie Lee (D-NV) said, "Until the administration can demonstrate that there is a plan in place to handle a surge in migration at the border in a humane, safe and orderly way, I can’t support the decision to end Title 42 at this time.”

Title 42 was first implemented in March 2020. It enables border patrol to deny migrants entry to the U.S. on the basis of a public health emergency, according to Axios. That report also said the Biden Administration is considering an extension to the May 23 repeal date while it tries to come up with a plan to deal with the influx of migrants at the border.

“The White House could step in to help secure our border at any time,” Ducey said. “Things will only get worse when the Biden administration lifts Title 42 next month. It will continue to overwhelm our hard-working officials and our communities.”

In March, U.S. border patrol agents apprehended 221,303 people attempting to enter the country illegally, the most apprehensions recorded in 22 years, The Federalist reports. Border encounters are expected to reach 2 million by the end of this fiscal year.

The Catholic Church offers 5 guiding principles on the subject of immigration, according to Justice for Immigrants.

1) The right to find economic, political and social opportunities in his homeland.

2) If someone can’t find a job to support their family in their country, they have the right to relocate.

3) Nations have the right to secure their borders.

4) Countries should take in people who are fleeing wars and persecution.

5) Every person, regardless of immigration status, should be treated with human dignity.
