We are honored to announce that Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust has awarded FSL a $1.6 million grant to support programs and services that benefit seniors, adults with disabilities, caregivers, and low-income families in our community.

“We are so moved by the generosity of Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust,” says FSL CEO Tom Egan. “The past year has been uncertain for some of our most vulnerable populations here in the Valley. The funding from this grant will help us ensure they are getting the support they need from FSL programs.”

The grant is one of 71 surprise grants the trustees of Piper Trust announced on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021. Known as the “Now is the Moment” Grants Commemoration, the initiative totaled $123 million and is the largest single-day grant initiative in Arizona’s history.

Piper Trust selected grantees based on each organization’s respective mission and impact on the community, and the initiative aligns with the organization’s increased grantmaking over the past two years in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the past 15 months, Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust’s endowment grew by $123 million, and trustees felt compelled to share all the earnings with the community through organizations in their six core areas of grantmaking; arts and culture, children, education, healthcare and medical research, older adults, and religious organizations.
