Catholics should be ready for Jesus and not live in fear; Fr. Kilian McCaffrey, pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Sun City, said.
"God made the world and the changing of times and seasons," McCaffrey said in the church's Nov. 15 bulletin. "This past Monday, we learned of the new and real hope for a vaccine which will help us to overcome the awful virus pandemic of 2020; this 'sudden disaster which came upon us,' to paraphrase St. Paul."
McCaffrey noted that this time of the year is both holy and sacred, and that Catholics turn to God more as the days grow shorter— turning to the light as darkness comes closer and they see signs of hope after a tough year.
"The Parable of the Talents is a reminder that each Christian is called to be a child of the light— to build the Kingdom of God, a kingdom where the meek inherit the land and we are blessed when persecuted for the Lord’s sake," Fr. McCaffrey said.
