A message from St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Oro Valley recently addressed parishioners regarding the importance of developing a deeper understanding of Scripture.

"I remember as a child the meticulousness my father would bring to a task," the author of the message in the church's Nov. 1 bulletin said. From yard work to home repairs, any task he undertook, he undertook it with attention down to the most meticulous detail. His father's patience and attention to detail stood as an example to him, and a valuable one.

In the same way, the author encouraged the congregation to heed the example of the prophets, teachers, martyrs, heralds, witnesses and innovators presented in Scripture who showed a similar dedication to God in their work.

"They direct us toward true happiness and remind us that we are all called to be saints," he said.

"Pay attention to the details," the author concluded. "Do what you do with great love. Know that you are not alone. Believe that you can persevere. Have great faith."
