Father Thomas Bennett of Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Parish in Mesa recently exhorted parishioners to remember that “the message of Fatima is for all times and all places.”
Commemorating the 103rd anniversary of the apparition of our Lady of Fatima, Bennett told the story of the three children— Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta— who recalled the appearance.
“Our Lady appeared to three little children in Fatima, Portugal, and asked them to tell the world to pray the Rosary for the reparation of sin, the conversion of sinners and peace in the world,” Bennett said in the parish's Oct. 18 bulletin. “She asked them to pray and do penance for these intentions.”
Yet, the battle between good and evil is waged within the hearts of all people, Bennett noted.
“We need to learn to pray and do penance in order to overcome our weaknesses and live a life of grace that is pleasing to God,” he said in the bulletin.
