Jesus' enemies couldn't trap Him, because it's impossible to trap the Truth or Light. | Okan Caliskan/Pixabay
When Jesus told parables of judgment and grace during Holy Week in Jerusalem, people didn't listen and repent.
Instead, his enemies "hardened their hearts against Him," Fr. Kilian McCaffrey, the Oct. 18 bulletin of St. Elizabeth Seton Roman Catholic Parish in Sun City said. "They are all around Him, plotting His downfall: it has become a matter of life and death."
The Pharisees set a trap for Jesus and believed it to be perfect. But they couldn't trap Jesus, because it's impossible to trap the Truth.
"First, and most important, it’s about making sure that we are connecting with the Lord through faithful prayer and regular, weekly participation in the sacraments of the Church," the bulletin said. "Second, it’s about making sure that we are spending time with our families— and not just the so-called 'quality time,' but it is also the 'quantity time' that really makes a difference. Third, it’s about making sure that our lives are anchored firmly in our community of faith by allowing our lives to revolve around the worship of the Lord and activities of our parish. These three things go together and I pray that these three come together for every family here: that healthy marriages and strong families might be built up."
