St. Francis Xavier Parish in Phoenix shared some thoughts from the pastor about financial generosity in the church's Oct. 11 bulletin

Fr. Robert Fambrini noted that this year is different in the church's approach to an offertory appeal.

"We launch with messaging from the pulpit, perhaps a video or special slogan, followed by a mailing of commitment cards to our parish families," Fambrini said in the bulletin. "This year, we’ve discerned that our efforts would be 'quiet'— we aren’t going to formally ask for offertory commitments."

Instead of asking for more giving, the church is responding with gratitude for all of the giving that the congregation has given over the years. This year has been challenging in many ways; not least of all, financially. Many are struggling and the church is certain that the Lord will provide and move the hearts of everyone to ensure that proper provisions are made.

"We’ve become adept at streaming liturgies, hosting webinars and engaging core ministry groups virtually," Fambrini said. "And we’ve prepared the way to welcome our ministries back to campus."

Different though it has been, the church's operations will continue through the grace of God and the generosity of the congregation. Life is getting back to a semblance of normalcy, including the option for ministries to return to meeting regularly if they deem it fit.

"Through your enduring financial gifts, you are enabling us to continue the many programs and ministries that make St. Francis Xavier a thriving faith community," Fambrini said. "We thank you for your gift of treasure and in return offer our gifts of time and talents."

For everyone who calls St. Francis Xavier home, they can rest easy knowing that the parish is there to support them even in the most difficult times.

"Know that every member of the Phoenix Jesuit Community and parish staff is here to serve you," Fr. Fambrini said.
