Father Don Kline, pastor of Saint Bernadette Catholic Church in Scottsdale, recently encouraged parishioners to remember the sacredness of every life.
In a letter published in the Oct. 4 church bulletin, Kline reminded Catholics of the message of October’s Respect Life, to align oneself with God’s value of human life.
“Because our loving God has created every human being, we are sacred and precious— made in God’s image and likeness,” Kline said in his letter. "We are a reflection of God. As a reflection of God, we have been entrusted from the moment of conception until our natural death with a unique mission and vocation in life that is life-giving.”
That mission is to help the world realize God’s love for all humans, from conception to natural death, he said.
Kline cited the Catechism of the Catholic Church to remind parishioners that only God is the Lord of life from beginning to end, and no one else may claim that right. He also brought attention to the special relationship between the Creator God and humans through the Psalm that speaks of God knitting humans in the womb and knowing them before they are born.
