Our Mother of Sorrows Parish in Tucson shared a reflection in the Sept. 20 bulletin on the love of our Mother, Mary, who is our heavenly intercessor.
The Rev. Arnold Aurillo wrote that Mary, our Mother, truly underwent a degree of loss and sorrows that we can only imagine.
“It was for her a pain so deep that she knew would bring true restoration to mankind— giving humanity, Grace and Salvation,” Aurillo said. “If we go through suffering just as we have now, always remember that it is the price that we have to pay in order to earn happiness.”
While we can think back upon many occasions in which we have suffered but then overcome a challenge and been given strength for the next task, it would be wrong to overlook the gravity of the pain that our Mother suffered in her earthly pilgrimage and what she is trying to teach each of us.
“Our dear Mother Mary was and is a model of how we cope with what is happening with our lives, families, communities and our country,” Aurillo said. “But if we go deeper into our hearts, we know for a fact that all these sufferings are but temporary and they can be overcome.”
When we look to Mary, we can see that she is pointing us to her Son, who overcame death and conquered the powers of sin and death. In our time on this earth, we will be faced with many challenges and temptations and the only way that we can persevere is through holding on to our faith in the Lord.
“Our devotion to Mother Mary and our faith in her Son Jesus will make each of us endure in this fight; and with His help, we will all come out victorious," Fr. Aurillo said. "In a drama of pain and turmoil, happiness always triumphs."
