Sacred Heart Parish in Parker shared a gospel meditation about true comfort and security on the 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time.
While we may believe initially that we will be satisfied by earthly pleasures, these things will fade away in time and leave us empty.
“To the secular mind, the wisdom and ideals of the Gospel are making less and less sense," the meditation in the weekly bulletin said. "Consider for a moment this question: ‘What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?’ While Jesus is asking this very challenging question to people who are considering his message, many in our world are in a quite different place."
Regardless of what we are told by the world, our constant pursuit of comfort and pleasure in this world will only take us further away from God.
In order to build a strong relationship with the Lord, we must depend on him for our peace and fulfillment.
