Father José Garibaldi Ballesteros has been moved from St. Augustine Catholic Church in Phoenix to Christ the King Parish in Mesa.
"We deeply thank Father José Garibaldi Ballesteros in his work as vicar in our parish," a release issued in St. Augustine's Sunday bulletin said.
"We also thank the entire community for their demonstrations of affection, gratitude and prayer in the drive-thru farewell event this past Saturday, Aug. 15," the release continued. "Fr. Jose was a dearly loved priest by God and by this community. ... He will be living behind his teachings and example of love and fidelity to our Lord, Jesus Christ. May God and Our Lady Virgin Mary bring great blessings to him and his new parishioners? May the Holy Spirit cover him with his Light in this new stage of his life as a priest."
The release concluded by highlighting that Ballesteros spent 12 years teaching at the St. Augustine Parish.
"May our Heavenly Father protect him and always encourage him to share the Word with the same wisdom that has distinguished him during these 12 years of service in our community," the release said. "THANK YOU FR. JOSE AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU!"
