Even in times of trouble and uncertainty, regardless of the challenges faced or the seeming impossibility of circumstances, the Bible tells us that – through the love of Christ – we conquer all things “overwhelmingly.”
The Rev. Dan Connealy of Saint Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church in Phoenix recently shared the words of Saint Paul in his Sunday message.
“What will separate us from the love of Christ?” Connealy quoted from the Apostle. “Will anguish, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or the sword? No, in all these things we conquer overwhelmingly through Him who loved us.”
The emphasis, rightly, is on the love of Christ as the only thing to be concerned with losing in this life, Connealy states. Even if the nation itself were destroyed, this would be only a circumstance, and one that could be overcome through the love of Christ.
And the circumstances, they are only distractions from focusing on Christ’s love, Connealy stated.
“This is the truth, that no distress can be greater than the love Christ desires to shower upon us,” he wrote.
