The Rev. Matt Lowry of the Holy Trinity Catholic Newman Center at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff reflected on how the Lord desires to feed us in all the ways that we are hungry in his Aug. 2 homily that was posted to Catholic Jacks podcast

God has a plan to satisfy our earthly needs, Lowry said, but also answers our deepest desires for fulfillment and wholeness.

"We didn't have anything," Lowery said in his homily, relating the Lord feeding us to a newly married couple. "And yet, we always had what we needed."

God is what got the new couple through the early stages of their marriage when they didn't have anything, Lowry said. He also recounted a nightly prayer he would say in college.

"God, I don't know how I'm going to get through tomorrow," Lowry recalled praying. "You have to do it. You have to help me."

Lowry said he didn't know how he got through college, but he put his faith in the Lord, which is why he is where he is today. God will answer all our needs if we put our trust in Him.

Lowery related God providing for people back to the prophet Isaiah, who offered food and drinks to people who had no money or food.

"The prophet Isaiah is telling the people God has a plan," Lowry said. "He's going to take care of you. In a similar way, God has a plan to take care of us. He has a plan to bless us in great ways. It just doesn't always feel like it in the moment."

People worry about things such as whether or not school will resume or how they will be able to provide, Lowry said, but God ensures us that He will give us what we need.
