The Pastor's Corner column in the July 19 weekly bulletin from St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Catholic Church in Anthem addressed the topic of what humans truly want in relation to the dream of King Solomon's parable.
God asks us to identify what is the top priority in our hearts, which will give our life meaning, according to the Pastor's Corner. In the parable, Solomon could have asked for anything he desired but instead he asked God for wisdom.
"Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and the door will be opened to you,” according to Matthew 7:7.

While God would have granted the man anything, Solomon had more character than to ask for material treasure.
"We must be willing to do anything, give up everything or be detached from everything and everyone to gain the pearl of great price," the column stated. "Giving up everything and everyone in order to free our heart to accept the Kingdom of God. In a sense, it means that God must come first in our life and His Kingdom is our highest priority. Willingly and joyfully we give up everything for His Kingdom, because it is worth more than anything we could ever sacrifice to gain it."
By choosing God and his Kingdom, we will be gaining everything He has prepared for those who love him, which will fill the heart of everyone in His Kingdom with joy.
