The Gospel Meditation in the July 19 parish newsletter from All Saints Roman Catholic Church of Mesa encourages parishioners to seek a deeper understanding of scripture, stating that two dimensions of the same thing are able to exist together.

The meditation notes that belief and unbelief, grace and sin and good and evil can all exist in the same space, and that while we wrestle with them inwardly, they can be seen in others actions and words as well.

"Many, all too often, beat themselves up because of their sin," the meditation reads. "We are also all too quick to pass judgment on others who we perceive to be in error and walking down a wrong path."

The meditation says that God does not make those types of rash judgments and we should not either, instead opting for patience and acceptance of God's will. Because of faith, weeds and wheat are able to exist together and, the author writes, wheat will always triumph.

"As long as we can cultivate even a little faith and a small measure of desire for God, He can produce abundant blessings and good things," the meditation reads. "Even when the weeds seem to have triumphed, there still may be a small measure of faith remaining that can be cultivated and grown."

Weeds have power and while they can appear healthy, they have the ability to quickly cut off God's presence if we don't maintain and cultivate the desire for God, the meditation says. It urges parishioners to spend time with God and stop worrying about the weeds.
