St. Michael Indian School called on students ages 7 to 13 to take part in a Summer of Stories, a writing contest sponsored by the Catholic Extension.
Summer vacation may have just started after a long few months of distance learning, but students with a good imagination or the gift of writing are encouraged to put their keyboards, or even the old-fashioned pen and paper to work. Contestants will include students from programs that Catholic Extension said it supports, including religious education programs, summer camps and schools.
St. Michael Indian School students were encouraged to write a story or poem for the contest. The plot can include faith, family, or maybe something funny, St. Michael said on its Facebook page. Play Makers Laboratory will collaborate with Catholic Extension in the contest.
Entries will be accepted through June 26. They can be submitted online on the Catholic Extension website. Winners will be picked in July. The winners will have their poems or stories made into a video with narration and photos. The finished vidoes will be shared with Catholic Extension's online audience of more than 100,000 people.
