The Foundation for Senior Living (FSL) Real Estate team donated thousands of pounds of groceries to its properties food pantries to keep residents fed during the COVID-19 pandemic and limit their trips to grocery stores.
The team recently donated 4,800 pounds of non-perishable goods to each property's food pantry, FSL posted on its website.
Some of FSL's residents are senior citizens, the population with the highest risks association with coronavirus. The donated food will help the residents limit trips out of their homes and into the public, where they could be exposed to the illness.
However, the residents still need access to perishable food like meats and other refrigerated items. The issue at hand was limited refrigerated space, so FSL provided some freezers and additional refrigerators, the FSL website reported. Area food banks are helping fill them with perishables.
FSL's goal is to make sure their residents stay safe and healthy. The non-profit organization was founded 46 years ago by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix.
