Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Parish issued the following announcement on April 19

I wonder how many of you listened to a HOMILY for Easter last Sunday?

Our faith is a shield that defends us from lies or wrong ideas that will hurt us if we believe them. When we recite the CREED together, we announce the important truths we believe; we profess our faith. The CREED sums up in a few sentences what we believe as Catholics. The CREED is also a way of handing on our faith to the next generation.

When we profess our faith by reciting the CREED we accept Christ’s teaching as our own.

You can imagine the reciting of the CREED as polishing your shield of faith.

At the Easter Vigil and on Easter Sunday, when the faithful are making or renewing their Baptismal Promises, the CREED may be omitted because the Baptismal Promises are a kind of profession of faith too.

Me pregunto cuántos de ustedes escucharon una HOMILIA de Pascua el domingo pasado.

Nuestra fe es un escudo que nos defiende de mentiras o ideas equivocadas que nos harán daño si les creemos. Cuando recitamos el CREDO juntos, anunciamos las verdades importantes que creemos; Profesamos nuestra fe. El CREDO resume en pocas oraciones lo que creemos como Católicos. El CREDO es también una forma de transmitir nuestra fe a la próxima generación.

Cuando profesamos nuestra fe al recitar el CREDO, aceptamos la enseñanza de Cristo como nuestra.

Puedes imaginar la recitación del CREDO como si estuvieras puliendo tu escudo de fe.

En la Vigilia Pascual y el Domingo de Pascua, cuando los fieles están haciendo o renovando sus Promesas Bautismales, el CREDO puede ser omitido porque las Promesas Bautismales también son una especie de profesión de fe.
