A woman seeking a safe place to live after fleeing a domestic abuse situation got the help she and her daughter needed from Catholic Charities.
Andrea was in an abusive relationship when she realized that she needed to leave for the safety of herself and her daughter, Catholic Charities Community Services reported.
She left the relationship, taking just her daughter and what they could quickly put in their car. They struggled for two years before a church welcomed them and helped them in teir struggles. That's where they got connected to organizations that helped the women get their lives on track.
Andrea was connected to Catholic Charities in Prescott. She was paired with Housing Case Manager Terri Young, who helped Andrea and her daughter get the services they needed. Fears over COVID-19 complicated the situation. But Andrea received approval for the Rapid Rehousing program on March 20. The Catholic Charities team found an apartment and collected the household goods the mother and daughter needed.
Andrea and her daughter moved into their new home on March 22 and were given extra help getting settled in.
"It's such a blessing to be able to get these two into a home and feeling safe in all this chaos,” Young told Catholic Charities Community Services.
