Eucharistic sacrament being distributed in the parking lot | St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church Facebook
Pastor Edward Lucero of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in the Diocese of Tucson offers parishioners a “drive-thru” Eucharistic service.
As churches close because of COVID-19, the Diocese of Tucson is getting creative to help give Catholics hope, according to Catholic Extension.
Motorists were blessed by the Rev. Lucero with the Blessed Sacrament in the Monstrance in the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton church parking lot Sunday morning. The outdoor Eucharistic offering attracted a line of cars.
The Rev. Lucero hosts the sacrament in the north parking lot of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church on Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Visitors are asked to stay in their cars.
The mass is also being held online. The drive-thru communion service generated a positive response.
“Thank you Father Lucero,” parishioner Martha Molinar said in a Facebook comment. “The minute we drove in I started crying. Your blessing was so special.”
The Diocese of Tucson has been supported by Catholic Extension since 1906. Some of these funds were used to support the Rev. Lucero’s seminary education.
Parishes all over the country are adapting to the unique circumstances and finding ways to support their communities.
